But my point in <a href="http://tacticalphilanthropy.com/2008/02/why-do-people-give-to-charity" rel="nofollow">my first post on why people give</a> was that they are seeking to achieve "self-actualization" (a fancy term for what people seek after they have all their basic needs taken care of). I'd argue that both men and women are seeking to satisfy this need, but at the micro level different things might lead each gender to feel self-actualized. I’m sure men and women have different motivations. I probably would never have seen the survey, due to the non-web presence of T&C. While several economists have tried to tease out gender differences in charitable motivations, the results have been inconclusive.
